I’m always up for learning something new so today I attended a High End Systems Hog training course run by Colin Wood at AED. Even though I prefer life behind a sound console I think it’s important to be able to work with all forms of equipment on a production. Plus, who wouldn’t want to play with expensive sound & lighting equipment, given the chance?
The training course, which covered everything from basic operation to advanced fixture patching techniques, was a fantastic introduction to the world of lighting. Various models of Hog console were available to use and they were hooked up to a visualiser.
Overall I would recommend the training course to anyone looking to get an in depth understanding of these consoles, the training is paced well and Colin’s in depth understanding of the Hog ecosystem really shines.
Hmmm, I don’t think they’ll make a lighting designer out of me just yet, though!
